More Bad News for POTUS: Poll Shows 7 in 10 Say Obama Hasn’t Helped Economy

For those who’ve been paying attention, the results of this recent CBS poll offer few surprises.
From CBS News, Poll: 7 in 10 say Obama has not helped economy:
A new CBS News poll finds that nearly seven in 10 Americans believe President Obama has not made real progress in fixing the economy.
Sixty-nine percent say the president has not made real progress on the economy, which voters overwhelmingly cite as their most important issue. Twenty-five percent say he has made real progress.
Perceptions are not improving. The percentage who said Mr. Obama has made real progress has dropped 10 points from a survey 13 months ago, when 35 percent said he had made real progress.
Just 35 percent of Americans approve of Mr. Obama’s handling of the economy, and his approval rating on the issue has been below 40 percent since February. Fifty-three percent approve of his handling of the economy.

President Obama’s overall approval rating now stands at 44 percent in the CBS News poll. It has not hit 50 percent or higher since April 2010.
Many Americans say they are disappointed with how much Mr. Obama has been able to accomplish. Forty-three percent say he has accomplished less than they expected, while just 9 nine percent say he has accomplished more than expected.
Pres. Obama’s approval index — calling it “disapproval” index would be more accurate — from Rasmussen Reports for today is at a negative 24. It’s not the worst for BHO during his term — he’s received a minus 24 a number of times (most recently, on September 9, 2011). On August 30, 2011, Pres. Obama received his worst presidential approval index of all time to date: negative 25.
However, Democrats had anticipated that the president’s approval would soar (as they had for a few days following the Navy SEALs takedown of Osama bin Laden) following the drone killing of Islamic radical terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki this past week.
That’s proving to be not much of a factor in the president’s presidential approval index.

On the growing Solyndra debacle, even though Democrat donors warned Team Obama about the company, the president ignored the warnings and charged full-steam ahead. When asked in an interview by George Stephanopolous about Solyndra going bankrupt, the president said he didn’t regret the decision to give the company millions of dollars “because if you look at the overall portfolio of loan guarantees that have been provided– overall, it’s doing well.”
Clueless. And wrong, as more government-assisted companies are surfacing as they file for bankruptcy.
From RedState, Barack Obama is No Underdog. He’s a Political Loser:
Barack Obama told ABC News yesterday that he is the “underdog” in 2012. He actually raced to embrace the title George Stephanopolous threw out there for him. There was no deliberation, no pause — just an immediate “absolutely” to lay claim to the title.
First understand that the Obama wants to be the underdog because of America’s fixation with rooting for the guy behind. He sees it as a positive.
Second, understand that underdogs do not get to take campaign bus tours through swing states at taxpayer expense on buses paid for by taxpayers and also fly around in a blue and white 747 and get pretty much as much free press as he wants, including great photo ops in front of Congress talking about jobs.
Underdogs do not get that.
Incumbent Presidents get that. And incumbent Presidents do not, more than year from an election get to call themselves “underdogs,” if ever they do. When a President is a year from election, sees his popularity going down, and can’t even muster enough Democrats to vote for his jobs plan because they neither fear nor respect him, the President is not an underdog. He is a loser.
