Encore of “Mr. Obama’s Neighborhood”… Good Grief, POTUS Reads Aloud Book About Himself & Bo the Dog, This Time to Texas Students

Posted By on October 5, 2011

This week, Pres. Barack Obama read about his favorite subject to young preschool students in Texas — a book about himself, much like he did with second graders in Arlington, Virginia last December when he read the book he *cough* wrote *cough* “Of Thee I Sing.”

Democrats mocked and maligned Pres. George W. Bush for reading aloud the story “The Pet Goat” from the book Reading Mastery II: Storybook 1 by Siegfried Engelmann and Elaine C. Bruner to Florida students just as the Pentagon and World Trade Center towers were being attacked by radical Muslim monsters on the morning of September 11, 2001.

Of the thousands upon thousands of award-winning, classic children’s books from which Pres. Obama could choose… well, you can fill in the rest. What say those same liberal critics now about Obama reading about himself and his dog Bo?

Crickets chirping.

I won’t even go down the wacky narcissistic road of the family’s dog being named from combining Obama’s initials.

From USA Today, Obama reads children book about himself:

Before his speech Tuesday at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas, President Obama stopped by an early childhood education laboratory to read to children ages 3 to 5.

Among his reading selections: A book about the presidential dog Bo, including a drawing of the president himself.

Some of the kids didn’t seem to think the caricature looked much like their guest.

“That’s because when they made this book I didn’t have any gray hair,” Obama said.

Weasel Zippers is having a fun “Caption This” contest with the photo.

My two efforts:

“And the AK-47 we sold to the Mexican drug cartel was THIS big!”

“Barack’s ego was the biggest of all! How big was his ego? THIS BIG!”

Here are few amusing “Caption This” responses from Weasel Zippers’ readers.

From WZ reader Rocketman:

Hi kids, I will be autographing these after recess if you will donate your lunch money for my struggling campaign.

From WZ reader Greg:

“And this is me, all wee-weed up. Exciting isn’t it?!” …

From WZ reader WM:

See, I don’t always need a teleprompter!

From WZ reader thesixfour:

Look kids someday when you grow up, you can “vote” for Big Daddy Obama too!

From WZ reader Dana:

“Okay, kids, I know you have been learning about George Washington, but this is more important.”

From WZ reader SusanM:

THIS IS ME, president OF THE U.S.A., CAN YOU SEE ME, ……ME,ME, & MORE ME….I’M THE president. SEE ME LAUGH, SEE ME JUMP, YES THATS ME THE president…….

From WZ reader Just Sayin’:

“Of Me You’ll Sing” by Dear Leader

Encore quote — still love this from The Powers That Be from Obama’s December reading:

Why did Obama read them his own book? Because he forgot to bring his copy of Rules for Radicals with him. Next week he’ll stop by and read The Audacity of Hope.

And this is a little heart-breaking:

Mark Knoller tweet: 'One boy asked fo an autograph. Obama declined saying he couldn't give one to everybody. But he signed his book for the school library.

Mark Knoller tweet: ‘One boy asked for an autograph. Obama declined saying he couldn’t give one to everybody. But he signed his book for the school library.’

Why would Obama have to sign an autograph for everybody? This kid asked first — “if you snooze you lose” as they say. Well, greedy capitalists say that, so maybe that’s the problem.
