Oops: Obama’s Unemployed Drinking Buddy at Florida Irish Pub Has DUI Criminal Record, Plus Unemployment & Obama’s Recession Are Still Alive & Kicking (video)

There he was, our Beer Drinker in Chief, kicking back having a Guinness with some unemployed Florida blue collar dudes this past week in an Irish pub. It was a dandy photo op, with Barack Obama and his carefully rolled-up sleeves, empathizing with these men’s unemployment plight and how, by Congress not passing his doomed stimulus/jobs bill, he could blame Republicans. That it’s all their fault that these blue collar workers can’t find work.
Not necessarily.
RedState unearthed some info on one of the men who raised his mug with POTUS at the beer summit — Maybe That’s Why He’s Unemployed:
Does the White House just not vet these people?
The Obama Administration wanted to show the President in a blue collar setting, so they put him at a table with several bottles of Budweiser and some unemployed workers. Note that the President had a Budweiser in front of him, but wisely opted for a Guinness.
In any event, one of the unemployed workers is a guy named Mark McKim. Turns out Mr. McKim was arrested in 2006 for DUI and possession of drugs. In 2007, he was arrested for violating probation.
There might be a reason other than the GOP for Mr. McKim’s unemployment.

Pres. Obama had a round of beers with unemployed construction workers at The Harp & Celt Irish Bar in Orlando, Florida last weekend - Mark McKim is sitting on the right side of the photo in the foreground, in a white 'workers' T-shirt
From Mediaite, Fox and Friends Laments Publicizing DUI Record Of Unemployed Plumber At Obama Beer Summit:
President Obama took a few minutes, during his recent Florida trip, to sit down with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and four unemployed workers for a round of beers. Fox and Friends reported, this morning, that one of the men the President broke liquid bread with Tuesday night was arrested for DUI five years ago, and questioned whether anyone at the White House “vetted these guys?”
Co-host Gretchen Carlson also lamented how unfortunate it was that the man, Mark McKim, would “get a lot of publicity about this.”
Steve Doocy then blames the White House for the publicity that Fox and Friends is giving to Mr. McKim’s record, saying, “That’s very unfortunate, the guy with the DUI record, you would think that somebody would vet those people around the table. but apparently the vetter was busy that day.”
Despite mainstream media’s claims that the recession is now officially over (something that Team Obama also claimed last year), the proof just isn’t there.
From Bloomberg, Initial Jobless Claims in U.S. Fell to 404,000:
The number of Americans filing claims for jobless benefits was little changed last week, showing the labor market is making scant progress.
Applications for unemployment insurance payments decreased 1,000 in the week ended Oct. 8 to 404,000, Labor Department figures showed today. Economists forecast 405,000 claims, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey. The number of people on unemployment benefit rolls dropped to the lowest level in six months.
Reminder that in June, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz said this about Democrats owning the economy — no backing out now, Debs:
“We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place.”
That “Bush ditch” is looking mighty good about now.
