Singer/Actor Justin Timberlake Takes Marine to the Marine Corps Ball (video)

Cpl Kelsey De Santis had Justin Timberlake as her date at the Marine Corps Ball

Just when we begin to think that maybe Hollywood is filled with nothing but phony, self-absorbed, vacuous, money-hungry prima donnas, something nice like singer/actor Justin Timberlake taking a Marine to a military ball reminds us that not all of the wealthy, privileged folks in Tinsel Town are liars, drug abusers, wastrels, or military haters.

Not all.

Good for you, Justin — and God bless our military.

From The Press Association, Timberlake attends ball with marine:

Justin Timberlake has followed through on a promise to take a marine to her unit’s annual ball – and said it was one of the most moving nights of his life.

The singer and actor got suited and booted in a sharp tuxedo for the event after fan Cpl Kelsey De Santis invited him through a YouTube video.

Justin posted a photo along with a letter on his website after the Marine Corps Ball in Virginia and said it was “one of the most moving evenings I’ve ever had”.

“I felt so proud to be there. I felt like I was getting a chance to be among my heroes,” he wrote.

“Last night changed my life and I will never forget it.”

Justin’s Friends With Benefits co-star, Mila Kunis, earlier this year accepted a similar invitation to a Marine Corps Ball in Greenville, North Carolina.

From New York Daily News, Justin Timberlake attends Marine Corps ball as promised:

Justin Timberlake promised Kelsey de Santis he’d be her date at the Marine Corps ball — and he proved to be a man of his word.

The sexy singer/actor was on the arm of the Marine corporal who asked him to be her date in a YouTube video in July.

Timberlake was snapped by a fellow partygoer looking dapper — and a little shellshocked — in formal wear at the Richmond, Va., event, seated at a table surrounded by Marines in uniform.

The wife of one of the Marines at the ball said Timberlake “posed for pictures and seemed like a normal guy,” according to WTVR.

De Santis, whose sassy YouTube invite was inspired by Timberlake’s encouragement of costar Mila Kunis to accept a Marine’s invite to a similar ball, talked tough before the event, telling reporters she planned to challenge Timberlake to a dance-off.

“My friends keep saying, ‘Dance-off!’ They know about my skills,” she told Access Hollywood.”

De Santis left the door open for things to heat up with the “Sexy Back” singer off the dance floor, in an interview before the event.

Justin Timberlake Attends Marine Corps Ball

From E! Online:

When Justin Timberlake accepted the call, he wasn’t kidding around.

On Saturday, the actor and singer made good on his promise to attend the Basic School Instructor Battalion 236th Marine Corps Birthday Ball in Richmond, Virginia, after being invited via Youtube.

Timberlake had such a great time that he blogged about his evening with Corporal Kelsey De Santis and the marines, saying the night “changed” his life…

“I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget… Something I could tell my friends about,” Timberlake writes. “What I didn’t know was how moved I would be by the whole experience.”

The “SexyBack” singer wrote that he was almost brought to tears by a video about Pearl Harbor, World War II and the September 11 terrorist attacks, which featured firsthand accounts from Marines.

“It was a surreal moment to be in that room with so many of our great Marines who have such a different type of connection to those stories,” he says.

Calling it “one of the most moving evenings I’ve ever had,” Timberlake went on to write that he was honored to be at the event. “I felt so proud to be there. I felt like I was getting a chance to be among my heroes. It’s funny too because a lot of them are SO younger than me.”
