Aloha, Minus 24: Obama’s Presidential Approval Index Plummets Again Amid Scandals, Record Deficit, Cronyism, Occupy Wall Street, & Unemployment

Nov. 17, 2011 - Pres. Obama's presidential approval index is at negative 24, per Rasmussen Reports
Pres. Barack Obama’s negative 24 presidential approval index posted today at Rasmussen Reports should not be much of a surprise for those who’ve been paying attention during the Era of No Hopenchange.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 20% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -24 (see trends).
The president has recently suggested he will act alone to help the economy but just 27% of voters think this is appropriate. Sixty-three percent (63%) believe he should work more with Congress on the economy. This comes as just 18% believe the country is generally heading in the right direction.With those right direction numbers, Scott Rasmussen said on Fox News that he considers Barack Obama a slight underdog in his bid for re-election.
Voters strongly support the concept of tax reform leading to fewer deductions and lower tax rates. However, flat tax proposals receive less than glowing reviews. Most Americans do support a plan with no deductions and graduated rates of 5%, 10%, and 20%.
Today’s minus 24 isn’t the worst of Obama’s approval index ratings since taking office. While he has ranked negative 24 previously, the first and only time he had a record minus 25 was this summer, on August 31, 2011.
Contributing to the president’s sinking approval numbers — beyond the outrageous $15 trillion debt, crumbling economy, dismal unemployment numbers, rising food prices — likely are the number of noxious, weedy scandals growing in the Team Obama garden.
Namely, the questionable loans and contracts granted to Obama’s buddies and Democrat party bundlers at Siga Technologies (controversial smallpox drug), Solyndra (bankrupt solar panels company), LightSquared (broadband), Big Pharma deals, and other jaw-dropping government loans to nowhere, not to mention the lack of cooperation the White House is giving with requested loan documents and investigation questions and tampering with witnesses’ testimonies.
Regarding the White House’s tapdancing and refusal to comply with a subpoena for requested Solyndra loan documents, this is from CNN earlier this month:
The White House counsel refused Friday to comply with a subpoena as issued by a House panel regarding the failed solar energy company Solyndra, saying that the initiative “was driven more by partisan politics than a legitimate effort to conduct a responsible investigation.”
Kathryn Ruemmler expressed her views in a letter to Reps. Fred Upton and Cliff Stearns, members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. A day earlier, one of its subcommittees requested internal documents regarding the government’s decision to issue more than half a billion dollars in federal loan guarantees in 2010 to Solyndra, which later filed for bankruptcy.

“We have been reasonable every step of the way in this investigation, and it is a shame that the Obama administration and House Democrats continue to put up partisan roadblocks to hide the truth from taxpayers,” Upton said after Ruemmler’s announcement.
“Solyndra was a jobs program gone bad, and we must learn the lessons of Solyndra as we work to turn our economy around and put folks back to work. … What is the West Wing trying to hide? We owe it to American taxpayers to find out.“
More problems for POTUS — The fact that Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and other clueless Democrat politicians have embraced and applauded the costly police-attacking, vandalizing, rioting, filth-ridden, sexual assaulting Occupy Whatever squatters may also be backfiring against the Marxist in Chief and his minions. Millions of hardworking Americans are sick to death of the anti-capitalism Occupy movement’s whiny lack of direction, socialist bleatings, and violent spoiled-brat demands for everyone’s money.
Obama’s Department of Justice, with Eric “I’m Having a Fab Time in the Caribbean” Holder at its shaky helm, isn’t faring well, despite attempts to manipulate the media’s coverage of the department’s “assault weapons for Mexican drug lords” debacle with the botched Operation Fast and Furious, either.
Pres. Obama just returned from Hawaii after a few days spent at the APEC summit, plus partying and reelection fundraising with wealthy Democrats. He’ll be hopping back onto Air Force One in a few weeks on December 19 for the Hawaiian islands again for his annual Christmas tropical vacation — posted at the official White House website:
President Obama enjoyed twelve days in Hawaii over Christmas in 2010. He returned to Honolulu for a quick visit in November for the 2011 APEC Summit and will fly back again on December 19th for his Christmas vacation.
