An Occupy Santa Ana flash mob at Walmart - one Occupy protester leads a scripted chant as WalMart customers go about their shopping behind her
The Occupy movement showed up at a WalMart in Santa Ana, California on Tuesday, hoping to convince through their chanting that store employees should ditch work on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
Predominantly, the Occupiers have been proponents of vandalism, of terrorizing small children while bribing teens with cigarettes to sign recall petitions, squatting in filth-ridden Obamavilles, demanding more government handouts, protesting that rich people must give them their money, and who knows what else. Looks like they’ve expanded their convoluted message, just popping up wherever they choose and chanting any anti-whatever chant that appeals to them.
In this case, what appeals to these OWS protestors is annoying and insulting those who have jobs while hoping to destroy the Christmas shopping season.
From Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit:
#OCCUPYFAIL: Occupy flash mob fails to impress Walmart workers. “A two minute ‘flash mob’ by members of Occupy’s Santa Ana contingent left some Walmart employees feeling disrespected and confused.”
From Los Angeles Times, Occupy flash mob fails to impress workers at Santa Ana Wal-Mart:
A two-minute flash mob by Occupy Santa Ana protesters did not seem to have the intended effect, leaving some Wal-Mart employees scratching their heads.
About 20 protesters gathered near the cash registers at the Santa Ana Wal-Mart on Tuesday evening and began chanting a message intended to convey solidarity with employees, urging them to skip work the day after Thanksgiving.
“We believe that it is wrong that the corporation you work for is making you come in to work in the middle of the night when you should be at home with your families,” the group chanted in unison, according to the Orange County Register. “It is wrong that their profits soar while you struggle to make ends meet. … We strongly urge you to call in sick on Black Friday.”
The group then marched out of the store chanting, “We are the 99 percent.”
At least one shopper joined the group and marched out with them, pumping her fist in the air. Afterward, as the protesters drove away, a handful of Wal-Mart employees gathered outside the store’s entrance, the newspaper reported.
Their efforts are expanding past Wal-Mart — from CNS News, Demonstrators Plan to Occupy Retailers on Black Friday:
Some demonstrators are planning to occupy retailers on Black Friday to protest “the business that are in the pockets of Wall Street.”
Organizers are encouraging consumers to either occupy or boycott retailers that are publicly traded, according to the Stop Black Friday website.
The goal of the movement is to impact the profits of major corporations this holiday season.
“The idea is simple, hit the corporations that corrupt and control American politics where it hurts, their profits, ” states the Occupy Black Friday Facebook page.
A few of the retailers the protesters plan on targeting include Neiman Marcus, Amazon and Wal-Mart.
Their website states the following:
“Keep in mind that we are not occupying small businesses or hardworking people—we must make a distinction between the businesses that are in the pockets of Wall Street and the businesses that serve our local communities.
We are NOT anti-capitalist. Just anti-crapitalist.
