Déjà Vu: Virginia Tech Campus Shooting Reported Today, Police Officer Shot — Update: Two Killed (video)
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on December 8, 2011
Nearly five years ago, Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia was the site of a horrific, bloody massacre of 33 people, including the shooter, Seung-Hui Cho. The deranged Cho also wounded 25 others. That massacre was the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in all of U.S. history.
The shooting report today at the Virgina Tech school’s campus has a dreadful déjà vu feel to it.
Little information is yet available, but the spotty reports at this point affirm that a police officer has been shot and that gunshots have come from the coliseum parking lot, so students and staff have been warned to remain inside.

Director of news and information for the university, Mark Owczarski says the police officer who was killed was a campus officer. He says the identity of the second victim has not been determined.
He says the shooting occurred during a traffic stop at the Coliseum Parking Lot. He says witnesses saw the officer being shot at that location. Owczarski says the shooter fled on foot and headed toward Cage, a student parking lot. Police responding to the initial shooting found the second victim dead at the second location.
