“Push Back We Much”: SNL Lampoons Rev. Al Sharpton & His MSNBC Talk Show (video)

Rev. Al Sharpton was spoofed on Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live poked fun at Rev. Al Sharpton and his painfully terrible MSNBC talk show last night — Kenan Thompson captured the true essence of Sharpton, even concluding with a mocking take-off on Rev. Al’s hilarious “resist we much” teleprompter debacle from August when he launched a plea on his show to Wisconsin voters to vote in recalling Gov. Scott Walker. In this sketch, he awkwardly tries to get guest interviewees to agree with him that “Republicans have rocks in their heads” and “are Nazis” who are “trying to blueberry steal pie out the box.”

Spot-on impersonation by Thompson.

A recap from CliqueClack TV:

Politics Nation with Al Sharpton — Yes, this is a real show on MSNBC. You really have to have seen at least one episode to have gotten this sketch. I got it and they were pretty dead-on with the real Sharpton’s less than eloquent delivery and awkwardness on camera. It may not have seemed funny, but if you’ve seen his show, the sketch was hilarious.

“Push Back We Much”: SNL Skewers Al Sharpton

Mediaite weighs in:

SNL’s Keenan Thompson ribbed MSNBC host Al Sharpton with a goofy imitation of the Reverend’s over-the-top persona. “President Obama has been pushing this payroll tax hollaback — excuse me, tax holiday!” Thompson exclaimed. “Which has helping middle class folks up and down America and these Republicans now talking about how it’s bad for this and that and the other. Here’s my question — do these people have rocks in their heads?”
