Yuletide Pop: South Korea’s Super Junior Sings Christmas, ‘Santa U Are the One’ (video)

Super Junior, popular boy group from South Korea, has a new hit Christmas music video, 'Santa U Are the One'
Love them or loath them, this new Christmas music video by Super Junior, a popular South Korean boy band, was uploaded just yesterday on YouTube and already has more than 720,000 hits.
I actually like this bouncy Yuletide video — it’s simple (almost to the point of being mindless, but not quite), it’s upbeat and rather adorable, and it’s not filled with lewd gestures, whorish costumes, or gratuitous profanities (although the video is brimming over with South Korean-teen-fashion-mag happy-happy poses). A refreshing throw-back to squeaky-clean, bubble-gum entertainment like early 1960s television, ABBA, or Donny and Marie Osmond. Or, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan before they became notorious, rebellious party girls. (Are you paying attention, Miley Cyrus?)
Super Junior, formed in 2005 and part of label company SM Entertainment, has reportedly been the best-selling K-pop group for three years in a row.
This fluffy little Christmas pop ditty likely won’t ever become a classic, but it hit me in a good way today and made me smile. Will likely make you smile, too.
