Rocker Jon Bon Jovi Is Alive & Well… Sick Internet Hoax about His Death Upsets Fans Across the Globe

Posted By on December 20, 2011

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi, holding up sign posted on his Facebook page to squash Internet rumors of his death - sign reads, 'Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey, Dec 19th, 2011, 6:00'

Not only is rocker Jon Bon Jovi NOT dead, but he still looks mighty handsome at age 49, more than a decade after being crowned “Sexiest Rock Star” by People magazine back in 2000, 2002, and 2003.

There have been a slew of celebrity death hoaxes reported in cyberspace over the years: Lady Gaga, Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Mexican singer Luis Miguel, Matt Damon, Bill Cosby, Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, Morgan Freeman, and many other popular entertainers and celebrities have been proclaimed dead.

A phony press release posted at dailynewbloginternational (all lowercase) claimed that rocker Jon Bon Jovi was pronounced dead yesterday following paramedics’ efforts to revive him from a coma.

This sicko online hoax sure reads convincingly — but it’s a nonsensical pack of lies:

Rockstar Jon Bon Jovi (John Francis Bongiovi, Jr) was pronounced dead today after paramedics found him in a coma at his Empress Hotel, city and law enforcement of Asbury Park, NJ sources told The Times after World Christmas Tour concert on The Bamboozle Festival, North Beach Asbury Park.

New Jersey Fire Department-First Aid Captain Douglas Gray told The Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call from the home. When they arrived, Bon Jovi was not breathing.

The paramedics performed CPR and took Bon Jovi to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Ruda said. Hundreds of reporters gathered at the hospital awaiting word on his condition. The sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Bon Jovi team rushed to Bon Jovi’s bedside, where he suffered Cardiac arrest.

The detectives plan to interview relatives, friends and Bon Jovis’s doctors to try to figure out what happened. The N.J. County coroner’s office will determine a cause of death. A New Jersey Fire Department source told The Times that Bon Jovi was in full cardiac arrest when rescue units arrived.

Jon Bon Jovi Jokes About Death Rumors

From NY Daily News, Jon Bon Jovi dead? No way, says rocker:

Jon Bon Jovi wants everyone to know that reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated.

A random blog post claiming the New Jersey singer suffered from cardiac arrest ignited a fire on Twitter Monday.

To assure fans he was perfectly okay, the 49-year-old rocker posted a photo of himself on Facebook holding a hand-written sign stating, “Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey.”

The date, Dec. 19, 2011, along with the time was also included.

“Rest assured that Jon is alive and well!” a post that accompanied the photo declared.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the false story, first posted on a WordPress blog called, “dailynewbloginternational,” seemed to take text from one of their stories about Michael Jackson’s 2009 death.

From WJLA, Jon Bon Jovi is not dead and jokes about the Internet hoax:

JON BON JOVI: Not dead. Internet hoax Monday claimed the opposite but he was able to joke about it during a concert that night, per the Newark Star-Ledger, “Like Scott Baio, who was victimized by a similar prank a few days ago, Jon Bon Jovi seemed unnerved by the barrage of Twitter rumors. He referred to the hoax several times, and even pantomimed taking phone calls from concerned friends checking to see if he was still alive. He even felt the need to rehash the old Mark Twain quip about how the reports of his death had been exaggerated.”

From Mail Online, ‘Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey:’ Jon Bon Jovi’s living on more than a prayer as he laughs off death rumours on Twitter:

Although rumours swirled today that he had met his untimely end, Jon Bon Jovi wants his fans to know that he’s alive and very well.

The 49-year-old Livin’ On A Prayer tweeted a humorous photograph today in response to Internet rumours suggesting he had died.

In the picture, Jon is standing in front of a Christmas tree wearing one of his standard black muscle T-shirts.

Indeed, Jon’s sign is emblazoned with the date and a time stamp: December 19 at six in the evening.

If the sign isn’t sufficient enough evidence, his rep also confirms to TMZ.com that he’s still rocking.

One report claimed he went into cardiac arrest at the Empress Hotel in his his home state of New Jersey and died later in the evening.
