Frugalicious! Dress Like Royalty During the Holidays for Less: How to Frugally Copy Duchess Kate’s Classic Fashions

Posted By on December 22, 2011

Ever since their engagement announcement in November 2010, and even after their greatly anticipated royal wedding at Westminster Abbey last April, Prince William’s lovely bride — the former Kate Middleton, now Duchess Kate of Cambridge — still captivates.

The media and millions of people, even those outside the UK, attentively watch Kate for her latest flattering fashion looks.

Kate is well-known for her efforts at frugality and economical common sense, despite being in the international spotlight 24/7 — as I’ve written before, she recycles her wardrobe and made her own strawberry jams and plum conserves to give to Queen Elizabeth for Christmas.

Dressing like the fashion-savvy duchess doesn’t have to be expensive — copycat fashions abound, especially in the UK, and thriftier look-alike versions of Kate’s signature fashions can be easily pulled together. You still have time to duplicate an inexpensive, but royalty-inspired outfit before that upcoming fancy Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve party. Being on a budget during these troubled, cash-strapped economic times isn’t impossible to overcome with a bit of creativity.

For a compilation of suggestions and video how-tos on how to recreate some of Duchess Kate’s fashion ensembles on a limited budget, check out this new post on the Frugal Café main website:

I'm a conservative frugalist. My priorities: Watchdogging the government, making sure our tax dollars are spent wisely, living within our budgets (at home and in Washington, DC), and adhering to our Constitution and the conservative principles upon which it was developed by our founding fathers. Also, loving God, my family, and my country. Be wise, be frugal. God bless America!
