Why Can’t We All Just Get Along? CBS’s Bob Schieffer Wants Negative Campaign Ads to Be Stopped (video)

NewsBusters’ Brad Wilmouth said in a post this morning that co-anchor Bob Schieffer on The Morning Show, while interviewing Iowa Republican Governor Terry Branstad yesterday, is naive to suggest that political campaign ads should not contain negative information.
Naive?
After Branstad recounted negative ads that attacked him during his last campaign, Schieffer asked, “Why doesn’t somebody change it? I mean, why do you stand for letting this kind of thing go on, these kind of ads?”
When the Iowa governor pointed out that the Supreme Court has ruled that such ads are legal, the CBS anchor continued:
You know, my mother used to say, “Something doesn’t have to be illegal to be wrong.” Why don’t people just stand up and say, “We’re not going to do this anymore. I don’t care what the Supreme Court says”?
I don’t believe Schieffer is naive nor do I trust the liberal media — it appears that Schieffer is laying careful groundwork to protect POTUS and other incumbent Democrats. There’s nothing that the liberal media would love more to do than to stifle criticism and prevent Barack Obama’s dismal performance, his seedy associations, his overspending, his inadequacies, his ego, and his hidden agenda as president from being fully scrutinized and exposed during the election campaign.
Criticizing Republicans = Good.
Criticizing Democrats = Bad.
Criticizing Obama = REALLY Bad. And racist. And stupid. And racist.
