Taking Bites Out of Illegal Alien Crime: Arizona’s Anti-Illegal Immigration Sheriff Paul Babeu Announces That He’s Running for Congress

Posted By on January 4, 2012

Just a fraction of the hundreds of tons of garbage and filth strewn along the Arizona border, left by illegal aliens crossing into the state

AZ Sheriff Paul Babeu announced today that he’s running for Congress.

I love this guy… and liberals despise him.

From KTAR News Radio, Pinal Sheriff Babeu announces run for Congress:

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has announced his candidacy for Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District seat.

The first-term sheriff made the announcement Wednesday.

Babeu says he plans to focus on illegal immigration, high unemployment and the federal deficit.

The 4th District includes most of Mohave and Yavapai counties and some outlying parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Republican State Sen. Ron Gould of Lake Havasu City is exploring a possible candidacy for the 4th District seat.

Republican U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar also may run for the 4th District seat inside of the adjacent 1st Congressional District that includes his current home in Flagstaff.

Babeu released this statement: “As a first responder, I’m trained to run toward dangers that others run away from. Right now, the biggest threats facing our country are from Washington. We have record debt and deficit spending, the biggest intergenerational theft in the history of the world. We have a system that punishes job creators and leaves many millions unemployed. We have an unsecured border that allows the drug cartels to operate freely in our country, and results in 400,000 illegal crossings into our state every year.

From Tucson Citizen, Pinal County Sheriff Babeu announces run for Congress:

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, who announced in October that he was considering a bid for Congress, said Wednesday that he was officially entering the race for the U.S. House of Representatives in Congressional District 4.

He was the first of what is likely to be several Republican candidates to run in the redrawn district that is expected to heavily favor the GOP. The rural district starts in Florence, wraps around the Valley and includes much of central and western Arizona, including conservative Prescott.

Babeu is a first-term sheriff who lives in San Tan Valley, which is in District 4. He said he plans to focus on illegal immigration, high unemployment and the federal deficit.

“Right now, the biggest threats facing our country are from Washington,” he said in an e-mail to supporters. “It’s time for a new Sheriff in Washington. The American people are sounding a giant 911 call on Washington. And I’m responding.”

Babeu, who quickly rose to national prominence as a leading advocate of tough border security and immigration enforcement, announced in October that he was considering running for Congress.

He has been a fixture on the local and media circuit, making regular appearances on television and radio news shows to blast the Obama administration over the Fast and Furious gun-running scandal, border security, high unemployment and the weak economy.

Video encore… In September, Sheriff Babeu implicated DOJ head Eric Holder and the Obama Justice Department as accomplices in the crimes involving assault weapons used in the escalating Fast and Furious scandal — thousands of assault weapons were sold by the federal government to dangerous Mexican criminals.

This was originally reported in June 2010 — FOX News, Uptick in Violence Forces Closing of Parkland Along Mexico Border to Americans:

About 3,500 acres of southern Arizona along the Mexican border is closed to U.S. citizens due to increased violence in the region.

The closed off area stretches 80 miles along the border and includes part of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. It was closed in October 2006 “due to human safety concerns,” the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Wednesday in response to news reports on the closure.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu told Fox News that violence against law enforcement officers and U.S. citizens has increased in the past four months, further underscoring the need to keep the 80 miles of border land off-limits to Americans.

The refuge had been adversely affected by the increase in drug smugglers, illegal activity and surveillance, which made it dangerous for Americans to visit.

One of many warning signs erected in the Arizona desert, warning law-abiding citizens of the growing dangers in the region from the infiltration of Mexican drug cartels, gun runners, and human traffickers
