Stupid Is As Stupid Does… Bank Robber Has His Last Name on Getaway Car’s Vanity License Plate

Ah, the stupidity of bad guys just never gets old.

SAN DIEGO — Note to bad guys: Don’t put your name on the license plate of your getaway car.
That’s what one bank robbery suspect apparently did, and witnesses took note Saturday as he pulled out of a Chase Bank parking lot in San Diego’s Midway District with $2,920 in stolen cash.
The robber, wearing latex gloves and sunglasses, entered the bank on Midway Drive near Kemper Street about 3 p.m. and approached a teller window where a customer was in the middle of a transaction, said police Lt. Andra Brown. The robber placed a small container on the counter, pulled out a gun, and demanded cash from the teller and the customer.
“Give me all the money. More, more!” he yelled, according to federal court documents.
He left the bank with the money and got into a white Ford Expedition with a personalized license plate of ALMDUDE. A witness took down the plate information and told police, who found the SUV was registered to 27-year-old Robert Alm.
Officers did some research and learned the vehicle was often parked in the area of Third Avenue and Market Street in the downtown Marina District.
Police quickly found Alm and his SUV — they’ve arrested him on suspicion of bank robbery. Reportedly, he is homeless and was living in the van.

A personalized license plate on a bank robbery getaway car led to the arrest of a suspect, San Diego police said Friday.
A witness saw the robber fleeing the scene, driving a sport-utility vehicle with the license plate ALMDUDE, after the theft last week at the Chase Bank branch in Point Loma, police said.
Robert Nathan Alm, 27, has been arrested and charged with bank robbery, police said.
The robber was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, rubber gloves and dark sunglasses, witnesses said.
He thought to wear rubber gloves and sunglasses while robbing the bank, but not cover up his vanity license plate?
Priceless.
