Occupy DC Squatters: Rep. Walsh Questions National Park Services on Permitting Perpetual Tent Camping at McPherson Square, Rats Infest at Least Two OWS Encampments (video)

This news about the id monsters of the Occupy Everything movement — specifically, the Occupy DC tent city in our nation’s capitol — isn’t getting much play in the media. On the House floor this week, Rep. Joe Walsh has been digging into the Occupy movement and questions Mr. Jonathan Jarvis, Director of National Park Services, during an Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee hearing on “McPherson Square: Who Made the Decision to Allow Indefinite Camping in the Park?”
Key point established during this portion of the ongoing hearing — claim you’re a protestor with an “occupy” objective, bring up the First Amendment, and you conceivably could squat there indefinitely, unimpeded and free of charge, on federal property. Just two weeks ago, a baby girl was found abandoned in a tent at the Occupy DC encampment.
H/t to iOwnTheWorld for the video clip and for this summary:
Joe Walsh exposes DC Park Rangers as enablers who have been spending our money on bums that hide behind the guise of “hey, we’re protestin’, heheheheheh.”
Rep. Walsh’s staff paid a visit to the Occupy DC encampment at McPherson Square the night before, which is also included in the video clip. An invitation from one of the squatters was extended to all Occupiers across the nation to join their encampment — that’s just peachy. The violent crime rate in DC has jumped 13 percent and police blame the Occupy movement for the increase. Imagine how much more it would increase if more Occupier freeloaders, junkies, criminals, communists, and trust-fund brats high-tailed it to DC…
Rep. Walsh Questions National Park Service Director About Occupy DC
Disease-carrying rats at the DC Obamaville encampment have become a grave public health issue — this has proven to be a real pickle for Team Obama. It was only a matter of time when four-legged vermin joined the two-legged vermin in Washington DC:
District of Columbia health officials are concerned by the presence of rats at two encampments at Freedom Plaza and McPherson Square.
D.C. health department spokeswoman Najma Roberts said Monday there’s a large concentration of rats at the sites, where demonstrators have been gathering for months.
She says unsanitary conditions have encouraged the presence of rodents, and that as winter approaches, officials are also concerned about the possibility of hypothermia.
She says the department has no formal jurisdiction over the sites because they’re federal park property, but that health officials are speaking with other agencies.
First Lady Michelle Obama doesn’t believe that it should be left up to parents to fulfill the nutritional needs of their own children, Team Obama believes children should be able to get abortions without their parents being notified, but when it comes to putting public health and safety ahead of socialist anarchists and protesters, they get all squishy inside.
But it’s an important, volatile election year and public outcry over the Occupy movement’s violence, vandalism, and destruction of private property across the country has been growing, so Team Obama is finally making a sorta-kinda effort to get tough with the DC Occupiers — reported by Human Events, Occupy DC and Obama administration showdown looming:
The Occupy DC movement that began in early October may be on the cusp of coming into direct confrontation with the federal government and the Obama administration. At a recent House Oversight subcommittee hearing, the encampment at McPherson Square was declared to be operating illegally as well as being a public health risk.
The National Parks Service (NPS) has jurisdiction over the parks that Occupy DC has taken over, so ultimately it is the Obama administration that will have the final say in whether or not the occupants are evicted.
At the hearing, Republicans questioned NPS Chairman Jonathan Jarvis over his decision to leave the Occupy DC protesters in the parks without legal permits.
“It’s not your job to determine which protest group, how to treat protest groups differently. They are breaking the law. Why aren’t you enforcing the law?” said Rep. Joe Walsh (R.-IL) to Jarvis.
The people of Occupy DC released a statement to be read at the hearing. In the statement they said, “Citizens of a free country should not have to ask for permission to occupy public spaces. Our occupation of the McPherson Square is an expression of our right to free speech and peaceful assembly.”
While there are calls by Occupy DC for protection of their rights, the safety and rights of other citizens in a public place have been put in jeopardy. Besides being a general nuisance to people trying to enjoy the parks, there is serious concern that the fetid camps are breeding grounds for rats, vermin and disease.
“Camping is not a First Amendment activity. It is a violation of law. Sleeping (in a national park) is not a First Amendment activity, it is a violation of law,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R.-CA) said.
Additionally, a reported tuberculosis outbreak has been linked to some Occupy encampments.
One wonders: How quickly would tea partiers have been evicted under identical circumstances? And how many liberal media sources would have covered that news story in the same fashion they are with the OWS miscreants — which is virtually ignoring all of its lawlessness while painting it romantically?
Abandoned babies, vandalized cars and buildings, TB, and rats — quite romantic.
