Beloved country singer and actress Reba McEntire has joined a questionably illustrious group — celebrities and entertainers who have been reported dead on the Internet, but who are very much alive.
Other celebrity death hoaxes on the Internet have involved rocker Jon Bon Jovi this past December, as well as Lady Gaga, Will Smith, Johnny Depp, popular Mexican singer Luis Miguel, Matt Damon, Bill Cosby, Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, Morgan Freeman, and many other popular entertainers and celebrities.
Some sick puppies out there with either a depraved sense of humor or way too much time on their hands…

Reba McEntire is the latest celebrity to fall victim to a death hoax that’s spreading like wildfire on the web. The alleged news of her death has circulated so quickly that ‘Reba McEntire’ became the No. 1 trending search topic on Google late Monday evening (Jan. 30). Her latest Facebook wall update has been flooded with desperate comments from fans hoping and praying that a report that the singer had fallen to her death while climbing a mountain on an Austrian movie set is untrue.

Actress Reba Mcentire died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning – January 30, 2012
Preliminary reports from Austrian Police officials indicate that the actress fell more than 100 feet to her death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie. Specific details are not yet available.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12).

Fans of Reba McEntire were sent into a panic Monday when reports spread throughout social media sites that she had died while filming a movie. Many Scottsdale fans referenced a site that appeared to have the report and developing updates, but the website is a joke site and many fans were unaware that the entire thing was a prank. Luckily, while McEntire has not addressed the prank herself, she was actively tweeting Monday and this rumor can be put to rest.
The report by the “Global Associated News” indicated that Reba McEntire died in Austria after she fell in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains. Fans frantically searched media websites looking for confirmation or denials of the news, and a long thread about Reba’s supposed death developed at Yahoo answers. What many people do not realize is that most of the celebrity death hoaxes circulating social media sites lately come from the bogus GNA.
