Accused murderer Holly Grigsby claims having Cocoa Puffs while in jail is her constitutional right

I don’t believe our Founding Fathers had Cocoa Puffs for accused murderers in mind when they were hammering out the US Constitution…

From Mail Online, She’s cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs! Woman charged with four murders demands chocolaty cereal in JAIL as part of her constitutional rights:

A woman charged with four murders has demanded that she be allowed to eat Cocoa Puffs while incarcerated.

Holly Grigsby has claimed her constitutional rights are being denied by not having access to her favourite chocolaty breakfast cereal.

Lawyers for the 24-year-old Washington state resident have also demanded that Grigsby have access to candy bars and other snack foods while awaiting trial on murder charges that could carry the death penalty.

Grigsby and her boyfriend David Pederson, 31, are awaiting trial on a string of murders committed last year in Oregon.

From Fox News, Lawyers Argue for Accused Killer Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs:

Attorneys for a Washington state woman charged with murder are reportedly headed back to court next month to argue that she be allowed to eat Cocoa Puffs cereal and other sugary snacks while awaiting trial in county jail.

A judge will decide during a hearing scheduled for March if jail staff must allow the woman access to the Snohomish County Jail’s commissary, the Everett Herald reports.

Attorneys for Holly Grigsby and David “Joey” Pedersen filed motions last week complaining about jail conditions and that their clients are not allowed to use the jail store to supplement their meals. A hearing on the complaint continued for more than two hours on Feb. 13.

The pair allegedly killed Pedersen’s father, David “Red” Pedersen, and his wife, DeeDee, of Everett, last September. Authorities also believe they killed two other people — an Oregon teenager and a disabled California man — in October before their capture in northern California, the newspaper reports.

Snohomish County Jail officials said inmates like Grigsby and Pedersen are denied commissary rights since they are maximum-security prisoners and because sugary snacks can be used to make jailhouse alcohol. Grigsby wanted to buy Cocoa Puffs and coffee.

From KGW News, NW killing spree suspects want Cocoa Puffs:

EVERETT, Wash. — Lawyers have engaged in continuing arguments over whether Holly Grigsby, charged with aggravated murder, should have access to Cocoa Puffs and other snacks while awaiting trial in the county jail in Everett.

A two-hour hearing was held Monday in Snohomish County Superior Court on motions filed by lawyers for Holly Grigsby and David “Joey” Pedersen.

Grigsby and Pedersen, both with ties to supremacist groups, have pleaded not guilty in the Everett deaths last September of Pedersen’s father and stepmother, David and Leslie Pedersen.

Pedersen and Grigsby are also accused of killing Cody Myers in western Oregon and Reginald Clark near Eureka, Calif., in early October.

They are denied access to the jail commissary – and treats like Cocoa Puffs and candy bars – because of the serious charges against them in a possible death penalty case. Jail staff warn that snacks are used to for barter in illegal activities, and for creating crude alcohol.

Grigsby already has been disciplined for trying to brew alcohol in her cell and communicating with Pedersen via a mail scam.

The Daily Herald reports defense attorney Pete Mazzone argued that it’s against Grigsby’s constitutional rights to deny her access to the commissary. He said a bowl of cereal and candy bars were not security risks.

Why oh why must we pay to keep these idiots in jail? Her right? Jail time is not time out time. It is time to contemplate about what one has done.

“Time to contemplate about what one has done.” You’ve hit it on the head, Mcnorman.

Contemplating about murdering people or complaining like a sociopath diva that you’re not getting your Cocoa Puffs? Crikey – this self-absorbed, violent woman would be a perfect fit with the Occupy Wall Street movement.
