Short Skirt ‘ThighGate’: Tina Korbe’s Exposed Gorgeous Gams at CPAC 2012 Cause Mini-Scandal & Some Harsh Criticism from Some Conservatives (video)

'ThighGate' controversy during this CPAC interview with (L. to R.) Ed Morrissey, Rick Santorum, and Tina Korbe

Many people have watched this insightful Rick Santorum CPAC interview and it wasn’t because of Tina Korbe’s gorgeous legs in a skirt that was a tad bit too short for a sitting-down interview with no table or desk to offer her cover.

Those viewers were likely mostly all heterosexual conservative females and homosexual conservative men.

For all the others (and yeah, throw in some envious conservative heterosexual women like yours truly), conservative blogger Korbe’s titillating “ThighGate” mini-scandal has been a bizarre spicy topic for more than a week now.

For the record, Tina’s no-cleavage-at-all white blouse was more than appropriately modest and professional. And she looked fresh and fabulous in her black suit, unlike many of the male bloggers attending CPAC who can sometimes be mistaken for unwashed OWS squatters.

CPAC 2012: Rick Santorum Interview at CPAC

At Townhall, editor Katie Pavlich (who has awesome hair — I’ve seen photos — and probably has awesome legs herself) took offense at the outcry from some conservatives (namely, Stacy McCain, prolific, usually funny conservative blogger at The Other McCain) on how Korbe was dressed and also wrote this wincing, almost-misogynist observation: “I think tattoos and pierced bellybuttons are two of the tackiest things in the world, but I’m pretty sure not every woman with tattoos and a pierced bellybutton is a whore. Most of them? Sure, but not all of them.”

A “whore”? Crikey, Stacy, in which century were you born? I know you were striving for edgy humor, but you fell off the edge, dude. You’re younger than I am, although not by much, but you sound like doddering old Grandpa Amos from The Real McCoys. Or Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Or Piper Laurie’s character in Carrie… OK, I exaggerated on the latter. I’m a loyal reader of The Other McCain, but this snotty post really stunned me for its sexist, judgmental slams against women and how we all need to not look like whores. Not the Stacy I thought I knew…

Pavlich wrote a slam-you-back post, from which I’ve extracted a small portion — In Defense of Tina Korbe and Women Who Want to Look Like Women:

First off, there is a time and a place to be wearing a suit. Dressing professionally gives you more credibility and, quite frankly, is the only appropriate way to approach a number of work situations. That being said, what Stacy McCain missed was that Tina Korbe was wearing a suit in the video he is criticizing. Yes, her skirt was short sitting down. She probably should have thought about the situation before sitting down, but regardless, when standing up, her skirt hit knees’ length and her shirt reached all the way to her neck with a jacket over the top. She obviously knew there was a problem because she attempted to pull it down, not hike it up. Every woman has her terrifying fashion moments. She looked great, and she rocked the interview with Rick Santorum. In addition to failing to see the substance in the interview, during his sexist and inappropriate rant essentially accusing Tina of being a hooker and a meth addict, Stacy failed to mention in his hit piece that Tina is actually pretty damn good at her job. In 2011, she had the top Hot Air post of the year.

As conservatives, we’re all individuals. It’s time to start treating us as such, rather than trying to box women into what a “conservative woman” should look like. When is the last time you saw eight-time New York Times best-selling author Ann Coulter in a pantsuit? Oh wait, never, and she still gets the job done. But while we’re on the topic of dress code, should I start talking about the way the majority of bloggers were dressed during CPAC? Let’s just say they weren’t in suits, and many looked like they had just rolled out of bed. Maybe because the majority of bloggers in bloggers row–where Tina worked for most of the time during CPAC–were male, Stacy decided not to comment.

I’ve gotta go with Katie on this one, Stacy. Totally.

And with this story, I’m reminded for some weird reason of that infamous 2008 Thanksgiving interview with Sarah Palin at a turkey farm. You may recall that behind Palin was a turkey being casually slaughtered. Whilst Palin was blamed and crucified by liberals for the jaw-dropping, surreal incident (because, of course, Palin has eyes in the back of her head), I thrust a finger of blame squarely at the camera operator and the interviewer, both of whom knew bloody well (pun intended) that the bird was being offed in the background during the interview.

The camera person during this Santorum CPAC interview should have noticed how Korbe’s skirt had hiked up and zoomed in and up just a teensy bit to get her legs out of the frame. Additionally, that would have also prevented all of us from getting such an uncomfortably dead-center eyeful of Santorum’s legs-spread-open manly southern region.

And the Tina Korbe ThighGate controversy would never have happened. Hindsight is thighsight.
