Disturbing: Indiana State Rep. Morris Believes Girl Scouts Organization Is a “Tactical Arm” of Planned Parenthood (video)

Vintage 1917 Girl Scouts handbook

Back in December, I wrote that new Girl Scout handbooks proclaim that Media Matters for America, an ultra-liberal media tool of progressives that is funded partially by billionaire socialist George Soros, is cited as the “go-to news source” to clear up any “media misinformation.” In a growing scandal, the non-profit Media Matters has recently been exposed as a reported tool used by the White House to control and shape news, that it has written scripts for use by MSNBC News, and that one of its missions has been to destroy Fox News. A multi-part series is running on The Daily Caller — link to the first installment: Inside Media Matters: Sources, memos reveal erratic behavior, close coordination with White House and news organizations.

Religious leaders are now calling for IRS to investigate Media Matters and it appears that the allegations made against Media Matters could soon be investigated by Congress for violating its tax-exempt status.

Now an Indiana lawmaker believes he has found information that indicates that Planned Parenthood, another left-wing group that promotes abortion far more than it promotes adoption for unwanted pregnancies, is using Girl Scouts as a “tactical arm.”

If these claims of Planned Parenthood’s affiliation with the girls’ organization are true — and I’m reserving judgment, for now, until more evidence is produced — it’s disturbing and can’t be dismissed easily.

Rep. Bob Morris has been ridiculed by other Indiana lawmakers for his claims.

From CNN, Indiana lawmaker: Girl Scouts in league with Planned Parenthood:

An Indiana lawmaker who opposes celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America says the group “sexualizes” young girls, promotes homosexuality and is a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood.

In a letter sent to members of the Republican Caucus, Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris said many parents were “abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles.”

“As members of the Indiana House of Representatives, we must be wise before we use the credibility and respect of the ‘Peoples’ House’ to extend legitimacy to a radicalized organization,” he said, warning them not “to endorse a group that has been subverted in the name of liberal progressive politics and the destruction of traditional American family values.”

In the February 18 letter, obtained by CNN affiliate WRTV, Morris lobbied lawmakers to oppose a nonbinding resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.

Morris was the only member not to sign the measure.

After doing a “small amount” of research on the Internet, Morris said, he and his wife came to the conclusion that the Girl Scouts have become a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood and are part of an agenda that includes “sexualizing” young girls.

Morris’ two daughters have been pulled from the Girl Scouts, he said, and instead will become active in American Heritage Girls Little Flowers organization — a group that “will not confuse their conservative Hoosier upbringing.”

Morris said he takes the stand despite the knowledge that “99.9% of Girl Scout troops in this country” are run by good leaders, he told WRTV. The concern, he said, is where the money goes on the national level.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana President and CEO Betty Cockrum said she was disappointed in Morris’ words, calling them “inflammatory, misleading, woefully inaccurate and harmful.”

The controversy is the latest involving Planned Parenthood and its affiliates.

From Wish TV 8 News, Morris stands by Girl Scouts criticism:

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A ridiculed Indiana lawmaker is standing by his allegations that the Girl Scouts are a radical group that promotes abortions and homosexuality.

Republican Rep. Bob Morris, of Fort Wayne, told The Associated Press Tuesday that people should do more research into the 100-year-old scouting organization before accepting them as a benevolent group.

Morris’ opposition became the butt of jokes inside the House Tuesday. Speaker Brian Bosma, a fellow Republican, joked that he bought 278 cases of Girl Scout cookies. Bosma spent much of the day handing out Thin Mint cookies to lawmakers.

Morris wrote a letter to House Republicans Saturday accusing the scouts of being a “tactical arm” of Planned Parenthood.
